Facebook and Magic….

Well, I have finally set up a Facebook page! I have been hesitant to do it as I don’t want friends and colleagues scrutinising my artwork. I guess this boils down to insecurities and fears of criticism. For some reason it’s easier to have strangers look at my art!

Anyway, I’ve just finished this mixed media canvas today. She’s a cute big eye girl with lots of sparkles, texture and an air of magic!


This was created using gesso, dylusions inksprays, glitter, modge podge, sequins, glitter, acrylics and more glitter!

Always Make Time for Art….

It’s been a while since I posted, as life often gets in the way of my creative time.  I dream of having more time for art. It would be lovely to work less and create more, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen.  Therefore, I have pledged to myself to always make time for art, even if it is just five minutes of sketching.



I find it hard to create art quickly and I remember my art teacher at school telling me to speed up!  Perhaps sometime soon I will set myself a challenge to create art in one hour. I think that could also help me to loosen up and stop trying to be so meticulous!

This page was created using gesso, scrapbook paper, acrylics and ribbons.


Cupcake Fairy

This was a piece of artwork that I previously wrote off because I wasn’t 100% happy with it. But, I picked it up a few days ago and started painting it again. I’m still not entirely happy with it, but I will persevere!

I really love big eye art and have been adopting this style in my artwork over the past year.

Mindfulness Art Journal Page

I recently completed a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course at work, which is what inspired this page.  Mindfulness is all about being present from moment to moment and helps you to gain a greater understanding about yourself through meditation practices.

The meditation helps you to tune in to your body and mind and gives you a shocking insight into your own head! It has made me realise how much I worry and how stressed I have been feeling and has enabled me to take steps to look after myself a little better.

The fairy in this acrylic painting was inspired by the wonderful artwork by Suzi Blu.
